Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade Predictions: Spurs, Rockets, Nets, and More

Where Will Giannis Go?

The Bucks are done, and Giannis looks ready to jump ship. Here’s my take on the most likely landing spots, plus a few dark horse spots that could shake up the league.

With Giannis Antetokounmpo likely on his way out of Milwaukee after years of underachievement since their 2021 title run, the league’s most unstoppable force and arguably best player is suddenly on the table. Even if all he does is run and dunk, nobody’s ever done it better. Whoever lands him immediately becomes a contender. Milwaukee will want a plethora of picks and legit young talent in return. Here's who I think makes the most sense, and a few teams to keep an eye on.

San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs have the cap flexibility and draft assets to make this a reality. Giannis reportedly likes the idea of a no income tax state... advantage Spurs (and, spoiler, one other Texas squad). Giannis and Wemby on the same floor is like Thanos finishing the Infinity Gauntlet. Insane. Add in the #2 pick that Adam Silver just gifted them and things get real.

They’d need to send some combo of Devin Vassell, Jeremy Sochan, Keldon Johnson, or Stephon Castle to make it work. Maybe even get a third team involved to balance the money.

Mock Trade:
Spurs Receive: PF Giannis Antetokounmpo
Bucks Receive: SG Devin Vassell, SF Harrison Barnes, PG Stephon Castle, 2025 2nd overall pick, 2025 14th overall pick

Who says no?

Houston Rockets

Houston has the pieces... young talent, future picks, and the #10 pick this year. After a strong regular season but early exit, they’re one piece away. Why not Giannis?

If I’m Houston, I’d give up Jalen Green before Sengun without a second thought. Sengun and Giannis? They’d feed families.

Mock Trade:
Rockets Receive: PF Giannis Antetokounmpo
Bucks Receive: SG Jalen Green, PF Jabari Smith Jr, PG Reed Sheppard, 2025 10th overall pick, 2027 1st round pick, 2031 1st round pick

Brooklyn Nets

Brooklyn has been burned by superstars before, but this time feels different. They lead the league in both cap space and future picks (over 30 total, 15 firsts). Clean slate. Roster flexibility. Giannis could build something new and start fresh.

The question is whether their player assets are strong enough to entice Milwaukee. Nic Claxton and Cam Johnson are nice, but is that enough?

Mock Trade:
Nets Receive: PF Giannis Antetokounmpo
Bucks Receive: C Nic Claxton, SF Cam Johnson, PF Noah Clowney, 2025 8th overall pick, 2025 19th overall pick (via MIL), 2027 1st (via NYK), 2028 1st, 2029 1st (via NYK)

Dark Horses

Here’s who I’m watching if things get weird:

  • New Orleans Pelicans: Zion package for Giannis? Probably not but never say never.
  • Oklahoma City Thunder: They’ve got a billion picks and a 13-man deep rotation. Why not?
  • Philadelphia 76ers: Do they have enough to offer? Not sure. But I can see them trying.
  • Los Angeles Lakers: Maybe Adam Silver forces a deal for Jared Vanderbilt and a bag of saltines. Wouldn’t be shocked.

Let me know where you think Giannis ends up in the comments.
